Every manifest, profile and notice checked before it moves
Hazardous waste runs on paperwork that has to agree: the manifest, the waste profile, the land disposal restriction notice and the facility permit. Agents check each document against the others and send anything that doesn't match to a named person before the shipment leaves or the waste is accepted.

What you can build for hazardous waste
Hazardous waste manifest check
Hazardous waste manifest check reads a uniform manifest with the approved waste profile. It checks the EPA IDs, that every waste code is approved, quantities are within the profile and the generator certification is signed, then sends gaps to the environmental compliance manager.
Tested: clean set completed; 2 of 2 planted errors flagged.

Build an agent that checks a uniform hazardous waste manifest (EPA Form 8700-22) before the shipment leaves the generator. From the manifest and the approved waste profile, extract the generator, transporter and facility EPA IDs, each waste line with its EPA waste codes and quantity, the profile's approved codes and maximum quantity, and whether the generator certification is signed. Also have the extractor state whether the generator EPA ID matches the profile, list any codes not approved on the profile (or None), and whether every quantity is within the maximum. Check all of these. If any check fails, send it to the environmental compliance manager. Then write a short manifest check record.
Waste profile acceptance check
Waste profile acceptance check reads a generator's waste profile with the facility's permitted waste list. It checks every code is permitted, no excluded constituent is present, the lab analysis is current and the profile is signed, then sends gaps to the acceptance chemist.
Tested: clean set completed; 3 of 3 planted errors flagged.

Build an agent that checks a generator's waste profile before a treatment or disposal facility accepts a new waste stream. From the waste profile with its lab analysis and the facility's permitted waste list, extract the generator EPA ID, EPA waste codes, constituents, lab analysis date and whether the profile is signed, plus the permitted codes and excluded constituents. Also have the extractor list codes not permitted (or None), excluded constituents found (or None) and the analysis age in months. Check every code is permitted, nothing excluded is present, the analysis is 12 months old or less and the profile is signed. If any check fails, send it to the acceptance chemist. Then write a short acceptance record.
LDR notice check
LDR notice check reads a land disposal restriction notice with its manifest. It checks the manifest numbers match, every waste code is covered, each waste has a treatability group and the notice is signed, then sends gaps to the compliance manager.
Tested: clean set completed; 3 of 3 planted errors flagged.

Build an agent that checks a land disposal restriction (LDR) notice before it travels with a hazardous waste shipment. From the notice and the manifest, extract the manifest number on each, every EPA waste code, the treatability group for each waste on the notice and whether the notice is signed. Also have the extractor state whether the manifest numbers match, list manifest codes missing from the notice (or None), and whether every waste has a treatability group. Check all of these and that the notice is signed. If any check fails, send it to the compliance manager. Then write a short LDR check record.

Your rules. A person's decision. A record.
Send the documents
Upload a manifest with its waste profile, a new waste profile with your permitted waste list, or an LDR notice with its manifest.
Check them against each other
EPA IDs, waste codes, quantities, constituents and signatures are compared the same way every time. Anything that doesn't match goes to a named person.
Keep the record
Each run records what was checked, what was found and who decided, ready for an inspection or audit.
Be clear about the limits
- The examples use US EPA forms and codes. State programs and other countries use different paperwork; set the rules from the ones that apply to you.
- They don't file e-Manifests or connect to your waste tracking system. They check the documents you give them.
- They don't classify waste or decide whether it is hazardous. Qualified people make those calls.
- These agents check documents against rules you set. They do not replace the people who make the decision.
- We have tested these: each completed a clean test set and flagged the errors we planted in a flawed one. Test on your own files before relying on them.
